The 100 day project

If anyone follows me on Instagram @stephuntz you have noticed my many watercolors. I decided to participate in the 100 day project. Check it out. It was started 5 years ago.

I'm focusing on patterns or repetition in my paintings. It's a broad subject matter but it's definitely making me notice patterns in my everyday world. I'm doing all these painting with watercolor. I'm using watercolor because it portable. And I will have no excuse to take it with me wherever I go. My sister gave me Viviva colorsheets for my birthday last year. I've been using them most of the time. The colors are fantastic and so portable and easy. I'm also using my Holbein cake color set too but mostly when I'm home.

WOODBURNER

Starting work for my show at the Foster Library in February. All paintings and drawings will be images of Okinawa. They will all be inspired by my father's photographs from 1964 and by my own experiences here in the last year. A look at the past, while appreciating the present.

Below is a burnt wood piece of my father in front of a Ryukyuan tomb. (also known as a turtleback tomb)

NEW PRINTS IN THE SHOP

Made prints of six of my favorite watercolors from my series I Made a Painting Today.  They are up in the shop tonight! Check them out. I'm interested in printing any of the watercolors from the series. PLEASE, let me know if you really love and want me to make prints of any of them. Check them out here  http://www.stephanieuntz.com/japan-everyday/

I ordered new paper for these prints too! Probably a little too excited about this paper. :) It's 100% cotton and makes every print look just like the original watercolor. WHAT!?!?! crazy exciting.

Thanks everyone for the support too.

New Site being prepared for the new year.

Tomorrow is Christmas eve. Everything is ready for our next few days with our Okinawa Family and the lazy hours we will spend around our home. I can't wait to open the gifts that have traveled so far to get here. I really don't even care what we receive. In the end it is nice to know that our family and friends have taken the care to wrap these items and send them to us. It might sound totally weird, but I just like the idea that I'm touching something my mother touched, that I'm holding something that my best friend had in her home before she boxed it up to come to me and Adam. To me, objects hold energy and stories that they carry with them each place they travel. A great RadioLab episode to listen to is "Things"

http://www.radiolab.org/story/things/

Well that was a slight tangent. :) What I really wanted to talk about is...

I'm launching a new site! I have till the end of the year to get it up and running. Well, that is my goal.  I mostly want to have my new shop up called "Paint & Grain" It will have prints of my paintings to start but in the next few months I will add unique and one of a kind items to it. Hope everyone enjoys it. Excited for the week of work ahead.

This post is a contract to myself. :)
